Dairy Australia Taking Stock Application
Dairy Australia delivers the services for the ongoing and future development of a competitive, innovative and sustainable dairy industry. Each year, Dairy Australia invests about $35 million of dairy farmer levy payments and $15 million of taxpayer funds in projects for the benefit of farmers, the dairy industry and the community.
Dairy Australia approached Areeba to help implement the Taking Stock software. Prototyped on a spreadsheet , Dairy Australia wanted Taking Stock to be an easy to install and run application that could assist Dairy Farmers to measure and maximise their businesses. The software was part of an overall program of business consultation also called Taking Stock.
Areeba proposed developing the application in Flash in order for it to be:
- easily installable,
- lightweight and portable - able to be accessed over slower rural connections,
- accessible over the Internet, via CD or laptop,
- have a professional and easy-to-use interface including contextual help.
Consultants introduced the program to farmers. The Taking Stock application is an integral part of the overall program that has been a resounding success with over 1,200 dairy farmers taken part. A survey found that 97 percent of farmers were happy with the advisors worked through Taking Stock with them, 76% have a much better understanding of what areas of their businesses they need to focus on and 60% have already made changes in their businesses as a result of the Taking Stock session.
