Parks Victoria needed an Intranet to connect disparate staff using disparate systems.
History
Parks Victoria is the custodian of a diverse estate of significant parks in Victoria and the recreational management of Port Phillip Bay, Western Port and the Yarra and Maribyrnong rivers. They have a geographically challenged workforce, with a significant proportion of staff located in small remote offices, and in the field.
Challenge
Following the successful development of the Parks Victoria Intranet in 1999-2000, Areeba were asked to revisit and modernise the site and integrate best practices in portal technology and content management.
Solution
Areeba's understanding of Park Victoria's business practices and technical knowledge of their existing systems allowed us to help Parks evolve the intranet to become a dynamic and useful resource servicing Parks Victoria staff across the state.
Based on the RedDot CMS and integrating with Microsoft SharePoint services, Areeba developed a dynamic intranet, enabling:
- Integration of applications such as Corporate Directory and various Asset and Financial Management Systems
- Collaboration with tools such as forums, surveys, polls, image galleries, alerts, subscriptions, calendar, trading post, email services
- Development of a management reporting system for project management, and,
- Personalisation, customising the tools and information to the specific user.
