Plantic Technologies Website

Plantic Technologies is a relatively young business, having opened its doors in 2002 with the underlying intellectural property of developing plastic like products based on the core ingrediant of Corn, as opposed to more traditional means of plastic production from oil and gas based sources. Protected by a number of patents and patent applications, Plantic Technologies was formed to further develop this cutting edge technology, paving the way for an exciting research and development program to explore the potential applications for this truly unique product.

Concurrently, Plantic's operations also cover the manufacture of packaging for the confectionary and baked foods markets as well as secondary packaging for the pharmaceuticals and cosmetics industries.

Plantic's repositioning of its products globally has seen a rapid growth in its use with export offices opening in the United Kingdom and Germany. With such different markets and a global reach, Areeba were approached to design a website which would appeal to this diverse audience, from people with manufacturing backgrounds across to school children doing research about the environmental benefits of the products.

Areeba spent time assessing the existing website's information architecture against the existing business requirements which had changed since the business' commencement. In collaboration with branding and communications specialist Johnson & Hobby, the Areeba designers created a website that was inviting, fresh and of a style that appealed to both technical readers as well as the general public. Content is managed via a CMS that Areeba implemented allowing Plantic staff to manage their website as it grows. The site's information architecture has been created so that there is room for future expansion. Images and layout have been designed to reflect a modern, environmentally aware organisation with a professional and scientific corporate image.
